Overview

When you run one of the largest refinery networks in the United States, it would be an understatement to say that keeping track of your field services is important! Marathon Petroleum Company’s Galveston Bay Refinery, supplies markets all throughout the Midwest and Southeast. They are the largest provider of refined transportation fuels in the Midwest, and they depend on technology to accurately monitor their field services.

Challenge

Galveston Bay approached our team at Swip Systems about building a custom solution to help them better manage their field assets and equipment. Their current system wasn’t suiting their needs as well it could, and they asked us to build a web application to better track their in field work.

Results

Our engineers worked with an external project management group to design a process that would streamline Marathon’s field note taking operations at their Galveston Bay location. We began by first setting up a secure development server to keep initial changes in a test environment. Then, when everything was complete, we worked with the Galveston Bay team to move it over to a production server and make it live for the company.

When the web application was complete, Marathon brought their Galveston Bay field staff onboard with the new system and provided internal training to familiarize them with it. The finished product was a great success in helping Marathon better manage their field operations at Galveston Bay, which in turn keeps petroleum consistently available for customers!
